Since 1970, SLIM has been promoting marketing excellence and elevating the status of marketing in Sri Lanka. SLIM take pride in being a member of the Asia Marketing Federation, which is affiliated to the World Marketing Association. Incorporated by an Act of Parliament in 1980, SLIM is also member of the Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka. Leading its way as the National body of marketing in Srilanka, SLIM has endeavored themselves in numerous initiatives, that has inspired marketing professionals for 40 years.
The marketing profession is becoming more challenging and rewarding than ever before considering the rapid changing global and local contexts and also the driving wheel in today's business arena. Therefore, as this country's national institute of marketing, SLIM is taking proactive steps to organize projects such as “SLIM Brand Excellence Awards” it’s a celebration of Brands which are excelled at national level and rewards the outstanding efforts of outstanding marketers. Through this event, SLIM endeavors not only to encourage best practices in branding, but also to raise local brands to global standards, to enhance the image of marketing in the country and that of SLIM in the region. Brand Excellence is an initiative of SLIM with the Vision of supporting “Srilankan marketers to continuously improve their brands, ultimately resulting in them reaching global standards”. s
