Tharaka Ranwala is a former Board Member of the International Advertising Association (IAA) Sri Lanka. He is a Chartered Marketer and holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing - UK. He is also a Certified Professional Marketer (CPM) of the Asia Pacific Marketing Federation. He has over eighteen (18) years of experience in Sales Management, Marketing Communication, Marketing Planning and Banking both in the IT industry as well as in the Financial Sector.
He has won the General Managers award for most outstanding performance while working for DFCC Bank and has also won the Brand Leadership Award at the Global Brand Forum in Mumbai in 2008. He is currently working as the Deputy General Manager - Marketing and Business Development at Sampath Bank and is currently the youngest to hold a Corporate Management position in one of the top private banks in the country. He is the chief architect behind the brand transformation of Sampath Bank during the last couple of years and has played a pivotal role in the aggressive and focused marketing strategy for the bank which has chartered a new landscape in the financial sector since of late.
As the Deputy General Manager - Marketing & Business development of Sampath Bank, apart from the responsibilities he holds at Bank's Marketing Operations, he is in charge of overall operations of Foreign Remittance, Deposit Mobilization, Credit Card & Electronic Banking operations and directly reports to the Managing Director.
